PRODUCT INFO
Q: How is my decal made?
A: All the decals are made using a vinyl plotter or cutter. The design or logo is cut into a sheet of colored vinyl using a swivel knife that moves back and forth on plotted lines translated by the machine into the design shape. We then take off all the extra parts on your design you don't need (weeding) and add a layer of transfer tape (the clear or translucent part) that becomes useful in applying your decal.
Each decal consists of three layers: the top layer (Transfer Tape) the middle layer (Vinyl Decal itself) and the bottom layer (Paper Backing). The Transfer Tape top layer allows you to grab the Vinyl Decal and apply it to your Wall, Car, Boat or wherever it might be. Once you squeegee it down into place, you can then remove the transfer tape leaving you with a perfect decal.

Q: What are 'Die-Cut' Decals?
A: 'Die-Cut' simply means, that the decal is 'cut out' into the shape or design shown in the decal thumbnail image on the product pages. Only the part of the image that is black, will be the decal. There is not a white background.
Q: How is 'Die-Cut' different than 'Printed' vinyl?
A: 'Die-Cut' is different that 'Printed' vinyl in that it is cut into a single color only, and not printed into a full color spectrum, like a computer printer. What this means is that in the images shown on the decal product pages, the part of the design that is black is what is 'cut out' into the vinyl.

Q: Can I Do Custom Decals or Designs?
A: We always accept your creativity! If you have a unique or custom image or design that you want turned into a decal, submit it to us and we will help you determine it's ability to become a die-cut. Custom decals almost always cost the same as normal decals, depending on complexity.

Q: There is a white background on the product image, is this part of the decal?
A: Our decals are die-cut decals. Only the part that is black (or other than white color) in the product image is what will cut out as the decal, in the color you choose. The M&D Stickers watermark is not going to be at your finished decal either.

Q: Can I use a custom font for my decal? Any fonts I shouldn't use?
A: Please go to DaFont.com and choose from any of their free to download fonts. (Please keep in mind that some fonts may be too detailed to use with the size you requested). Avoid using fonts that have too many sharp points, severe pitting, or fuzzy edges. These can be too hard for our machines to cut, and tend to be too time consuming and may require an additional fee for process. It can be really hard for installation as well.

GENERAL QUESTIONS
Q: How do I apply or install the decals?
A: Our decals are simple to install, even the large ones. Always clean your surface or window before applying your decals. There are a total of 3 layers to the product. 1)the transfer layer (clear or opaque part); 2)the vinyl decal (your design in your color); 3)the backing paper (white or blue part).
Q: How do I remove the vinyl decals?
A: Removing your vinyl product will depend on what kind of product you have. We usually recommend using a scraper tool to remove our vinyl decals and stickers if placed on a window. You can use a heat gun or a fan to heat it up and can be easily removed as well from any other surface
back to top
Q: Where can I apply my decals?
A: You can apply decals on nearly any hard, smooth, flat and clean surfaces you want - for ex. on the exterior of car or windows. You can even apply them inside of a window. It is a good idea to position your decal in your desired spot first, using tape, prior to installing it. This will allow you to get an idea of what it will look like before you permanantly fix it to your surface. We DON'T recommend putting them on fresh paint (fresh paint = less than 2 weeks old) or on anything rough, dirty, or hairy.
Q: What is your return policy?
A: We will not accept any custom designed products back as we cannot re-use or resell them. If your order was damaged during shipping we will replace that item with one of the same once the old item has been returned to us. When customizing your own products, you are fully responsible for all proof reading and layout issues. We hold no responsibility for spelling or grammatical errors.
Q: Do you have setup fees?
A: We do not have setup fees for those who design their own products. We can help to those customers who need us to create a design from scratch based on their own ideas and needs. For more information, please ask us
back to top
Q: Will my windshield wipers effect my decals?
A: Not at all. As long as you cleaned your surface prior to applying your decal, then the decal should have no reason to not be securely adhered to your surface. It will be unaffected by your wiper blades.
Q: Can I take my stickers/decals off and put them back on?
A: Typically, it's not a good idea. Depending on shape it may be okay, but we cannot guarantee the life of the sticker or decal after removal. Some solid shapes might be okay for removal and replacement right after installation. In general, most decals will not be able to be reused or reapplied.
Q: Can decals be used on drinkware? How long will they last?
A: Absolutely! Our decals work great on any kind of drinkware with a smooth, texture free surface. Decals can last a different time depending on how often you will use it and wash it. It is also recommended to hand wash it without rubbing it to much
back to top
Q: How well do your decals hold up in sea water?
A: Sea water won't decrease the lifespan of your decal beyond the standard 3, 5 or 7 years, so you don't have to worry about replacing them sooner than expected
back to top
Q: Can the decals go through a car wash?
A: Definitely! Although you might want to wait a few days after applying the decal before the first wash.
Q: Will your decals ruin or fade the paint on my car?
A: No, the adhesive on the back of our stickers and decals are designed for application to cars and windows for up to 5-7 years. Depending on your car's finish, at the end of five years you should not notice any fading of color.
Q: Am I able to remove the sticker or decal from my wall or car without ruining my paint?
A: Yes. We cannot guarantee that damage won't occur due to a poor or old paint job though. For the wall decals if your walls were not properly cleaned prior to painting or a low grade basic paint was used, then the wall decal could potentially pull the paint off the drywall.
Q: Will your vinyl letters and decals withstand the elements?
A: Yes. All of our vinyl letters and decals are waterproof and can withstand most weather scenarios.
Q: Can I put decals on a vinyl wrap / another decal?
A: Absolutely! Just make sure to prepare the surface without harming it. Soap and water with about 10% rubbing alcohol is safe and effective as a preparation solution followed by a clear rinse and clean dry. Most wrap vinyl have protective clear coat or laminates on the surface which will protect them from safe cleaning solutions. You do not want to use ammonia, household cleaners, abrasives, or strong solvents because you risk damage to the vinyl wrap and residues that can interfere with the decal’s adhesive properties.
Q: Can I clear coat over vinyl decals?
A: Although vinyl decals were not designed to be coated with a clear topcoat, many individuals have achieved successful results by doing so. The general consensus is that applying a clear coat of paint or lacquer can extend the lifespan of the decals.
Q: I have air bubbles after installing my sticker/decal. What should I do?
A: A day or two in the sun and they should come out on their own. Small bubbles will actually dissipate over time through the material itself. For larger sized bubbles, You may need to help push them out with your fingertip or a squeegee. You can also use a pin to make a small hole and let the air escape. A wet application is the another way to prevent bubbles from appearing under your stickers, decals, or vinyl letters. You can also use a heat gun to help smooth out any minor wrinkles in the vinyl if needed.

How do I apply vinyl products?
In order to appropriately apply any of our vinyl decals, we recommend that you first clean the surface thoroughly. We have accessories to help make the application process smoother. Once the surface is cleaned, allow it to dry and then respray the surface with a 50/50 blend of water and isopropyl alcohol solution. Be sure to also spray the back of the vinyl decal. Yeah, we know sounds silly; why would you spray the sticky part of the sticker/decal? Our decals are made with a solvent based adhesive, so the application fluid or water/alcohol won't impact the adhesive properties.
Once both sides are wet, you can now position your sticker, decal, or static cling to the surface. Spraying both sides will allow you to slide your vinyl product around and into the ideal position easily without immediately sticking to the application surface. Once you have your design in position, hold the product in place with one hand and then use a firm squeegee to remove the excess solution. Wait a few minutes for the remaining solution to dry up, then slowly peel back the transfer paper.
If you received a sticker from us and it does not have a transfer paper, don't worry; you just won't perform that step. By using the solution and squeegee, you will not only be able to position it with better accuracy but you will also be able to remove virtually all air bubbles that may occur when applying new vinyl products.
The wet application method described above is not necessary for all adhesive based products. Some vinyl lettering is small enough that you can apply it directly to the surface once you've cleaned it without adding any application aids. If you do apply dry, make sure it is straight and located exactly where you need it first, as you won't be able to easily reposition your product once it's applied.
